Jaipur to Host Khelo India University Games 2025 with Over 4,000 Athletes Set to Compete

The Khelo India University Games 2025 will be held in Jaipur this November. it will bringing together over 4,000 student-athletes from more than 200 universities across India. Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mansukh Mandaviyamade the announcement on Wednesday.


Multi-Sport Action Across 20 Disciplines in Khelo India University Games

Scheduled after the Under-18 Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar, the KIUG 2025 will feature competitions in at least 20 sports disciplines. Minister Mandaviya emphasized the event’s value for rising athletes.

“These Games offer a big opportunity for athletes under 25 to compete at a national level and grab attention from scouts looking for India’s next sporting stars,” he said. “Globally, university students are central to multi-sport events, and we hope Rajasthan will witness top-class performances.”


Strong Legacy from Previous Edition

In the 2024 edition, held in May across seven North-Eastern states including Assam, Mizoram, and Meghalaya, Chandigarh University emerged as the overall champion. Lovely Professional University secured second place, followed by Guru Nanak Dev University in third.

That edition welcomed 4,500 athletes, who competed in 20 sports over 11 days. A total of 770 medals were awarded — 240 gold, 240 silver, and 290 bronze.


Jaipur Gears Up to Host Khelo India University Games

As the city of Jaipur prepares for the Khelo India University Games 2025, expectations are high. Organizers, athletes, and sports authorities alike hope the event will strengthen India’s university-level sports landscape.


Khelo India Initiative: Building India’s Sports Future

The Khelo India initiative, launched by the Government of India in 2018. It aims to strengthen grassroots sports and identify young talent across the country. Through events like the Youth Games, University Games, and Winter Games, the initiative creates structured pathways for athletes.

It offers financial aid, world-class infrastructure, and high-performance training to promising sportspersons. By promoting a culture of sports and fitness among youth, Khelo India helps develop future Olympians while encouraging discipline, pride, and healthy living. The initiative plays a crucial role in shaping India’s long-term sporting vision.
