Bengaluru vs Mohammedan began with purpose and ended with control. At the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, Kelvin Singh Taorem struck in the thirty fourth minute and, later, Sunil Chhetri added a late penalty to seal a 2-0 win. As a result, Bengaluru opened their Super Cup campaign with points and poise.
Bengaluru FC vs Mohammedan SC: First Half
Earlier in the evening, Gerard Zaragoza named three summer signings from the start. Salaheddine Bahi, Braian Sanchez and Sirojiddin Kuziev joined a side led by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who wore the armband in his two hundredth club appearance. Meanwhile, Rahul Bheke, Naorem Roshan Singh and the returning Nikhil Poojary completed the back line.
Bengaluru started on the front foot. Ryan Williams worked close to Kelvin in a two man attack, and Sanchez attempted an early acrobatic effort that lacked clean contact. However, the pressure soon told. On thirty four minutes Sanchez threaded a pass to Kelvin, who took a touch and whipped a high finish beyond Subhajit Bhattacharjee. Consequently, Bengaluru carried a one goal lead into the interval.
Bengaluru FC vs Mohammedan SC: Second Half

Soon after the restart, Zaragoza made changes. Kelvin and Kuziev went off, while Sunil Chhetri and Vinith Venkatesh came on. Immediately, Chhetri ran through from a Williams pass, but the flag was raised.
Thereafter, Bengaluru kept creating. Sanchez found space at the edge of the area from a Poojary cross that had been cleared, yet his strike hit the upright and bounced out. Finally, the second arrived. The referee awarded a penalty after a foul by Dinesh Meitei on Chhetri. The captain sent Subhajit the wrong way in the eighty fourth minute and settled the contest.
What it means for both teams
The victory lifts Bengaluru to second in Group C, behind Punjab FC on goal difference. Moreover, the debutants settled early, and the captain marked a milestone with a composed finish. Mohammedan, by contrast, will look for cleaner final balls and, importantly, sharper shots in the next outing.
Bengaluru face Gokulam Kerala FC at the same venue at seven thirty in the evening on Sunday, 2 November. Mohammedan SC play Punjab FC on 2 November.
